New at the Bunn House: The Sound of Water

Our new fountain complements the formal garden and incorporates antique elements found during renovations.

We are pleased to offer guests at the Bunn House a relaxing and tranquil amenity in the form of a new fountain located within the formal garden. The grounds of the Bunn House estate are already calming and serene, but the addition of a water feature with sounds of water falling enhance the experience to an even greater level. The sound of water is something that offers a level of tranquility only found in natural spaces.

Fountain features antique brick found during renovation

The basics for a water feature were installed during the original renovation which started in 2013.  Due to budget constraints and logistics, the decision was made to cover the structure and install a large potted tree. Although the blue spruce decorated with lights looked nice during the holiday season, the formal garden needed a water feature to complete the space. This required adding support for the fountain and pulling together finishes which complement the surrounding space.

The brick used in the construction on of the fountain was sourced on site. Various pavers lining walkways and driveways were used in the circular pattern that surround the fountain. An art-deco motif is present in some of the bricks and this is a common feature in many of Asheville’s historic structures. The structure is covered in Corten steel which develops a warm, soft brown patina over time.
